Thanks Paul. I actually gave several quads of old stock Ken-Rad, Raytheon, Sylvania, Tung-Sol, GE and RCA. Of these, RCAs are my favorite and I use them in two other amps where they last a long time.
My concern now is with a different set of amps that are harder on rectifiers and to make matters worse use a pair in each amp. That's why I would like to try some currently manufactured tubes.
Follow Ups:
"to make matters worse use a pair in each amp."
If the tubes are used in "parallel", consider matching the turn on delays so they share the turn on stress.
Play safe and play longer! Don't be an "OUCH!" casualty.
Unplug it, discharge it and measure it (twice) before you touch it.
. . .Oh!. . .Remember: Modifying things voids their warranty.
The rectifiers are in parallel. I use the same types of tubes for each pair to minimize stress on turn on. I may add a thermistor but right now there isn't one.
Understood.
You may wish to contact the manufacturer as they may have a recommendation.
Cheers,
P
