Just confirming that the "Mazda" label was emblazoned upon tubes of many origins. You're on the right track to search for Philips-style etch codes, and other identifying features.
If you have a particular tube you want to identify, the best way is to post a few clear photos from different angles.
Follow Ups:
Alas I have sold most of them however I can say that my favourite (foreign) is definitely made by EI and has the Telefunken long smooth plate design. Sounds very nice.
The ones that say Mazda "England" are identical to a tube I have labelled Tungsram England which has a Blackburn code on it however the Mazda ones have no markings and while they look like they have the same internals the seal and point on the top does not look like tubes that came from Blackburn so possibly made with the same parts but subbed out for construction somewhere else?
Most of the Mazda Foreign have a tiny plate design about equal thirds split by micas and most probably actually were made in the Tungsram factory but again no actual tube etchings and no little tags inside with lettering on.
Tungsram tubes made in Hungary will all have the little square metal tag mounted somewhere inside. Philips style tubes can be easily identified by the etched codes on the lower side of the glass, or on the base between the pins in older examples. The common exception are BEL tubes, made in India, with Philips style construction. Sometimes Matsushita also lack codes, and both BEL and Matsushita have other visual details that reveal their origin.
French La Radiotechnique Philips tubes are a more common "Mazda"-labeled tube, and they have their own unique construction details. Many of the short-plate RT tubes have unique mica spacers that look like they have gear teeth, for instance.
The best way to be sure on an i.d. is if we can look at clear photos from a few different angles. Better yet is to be able to have the tube to look at in person.
