Yup. Sorry, I should have said they have Philips date codes indicating the EI Plant.
I had forgotten I had looked the codes up years ago to confirm. Quite smudged now and somewhat obstructed by the branding.
Thanks for the additional info on the Philips tooling. I had only come across that Philips supervised the process and that was it. Makes more sense now.

I'll have to double check my Sylvania 6DJ8's. I don't recall any codes on them. They are A Frames and also came in a Sylvania sleeve pack in the 80's.
Will pull the amp out on the weekend.

their ok but in a guitar amp are or become microphonic. It happens in a full tilt Marshall. They sound very nice though
Have you tried Telefunken 12ax7? Did they become microphonic?

they have a great sound too. Even the ribbed plate.
They made great tubes back then, no doubt, when I was a wee lad, of course
