PCL86 in lieu of 12au7

Could anyone advise if it would be safe for me to just see if my pcl86 lights up, only for a few seconds if I substitute a 12au7, or will this cause something to blow in the simply italy, thankyou.

What are you trying to test with the PCL86?

The heater can be tested with a DMM

  I just want to see if it lights up, what's a DMM , a digital meter ? If so which pins, thanks.

    Pins 4 and 5
    You very well might hurt your amp plugging a PCL86 into a circuit built for a 12au7.

A 12au7 is a dual triode, a PCL86 is not.
