Just wanted to give my fellow tube collectors a heads up on this seller. Anthonybrian23 His advertised testing can not be trusted. Sold me a Mullard 12ax7 10m tube with advertised TV-7 testing of 48/46 on both triodes. When tube arrived it Amplitrex tested with below 50% plate current on both triodes. In addition I tested on my TV-7 tester which showed results of 31/30 with 32 being min. When I addressed this with the seller he refused to do the right thing and make it right and ultimately made off with my money leaving me with an all but useless tube. He sells quite a bit of other tubes on ebay so I just wanted to alert my fellow potential buyers to not get burned like I was.

Follow Ups:
The upside to eBay is that items that are "not as described" can usually be returned at the seller's expense. However, if a transaction is cancelled for almost any reason, including this, the buyer is then prevented from leaving negative feedback. I assume eBay penalizes sellers when this occurs (probably in a way that benefits only eBay itself), but otherwise, future buyers will not know even if a dishonest seller has had thousands of cancelled transactions.

REAL POS.
"he refused to do the right thing and make it right and ultimately made off with my money"
Why didn't you return it? You don't need the seller's permission to do that.
Tube was found on ebay but the seller offered me a better price if I paid directly so I have no recourse through ebay. That was a red flag that I knew better to not be doing and is my foolish mistake that I have to own by losing my money. I did try my best to do my due diligence and received several texts from seller reassuring the testing was good and accurate which turned out to be completely false and a outright lie. I made a mistake yes but this is a completely dishonest seller nonetheless that is out scamming people and I just wanted to warn others that this is definitely a seller you want to bypass.

I also sell on Ebay.
If you leverage the fact that the seller lured you off Ebay, and I would imagine that you have Ebay message that support that, I think the seller would accept the return - or risk getting delisted from Ebay.
Good Luck.

Another pic of the listing when it was up on ebay. Point is anyone taking the BIN and paying through ebay would have received the same outcome of deceptive and completely made up test results reported on the tube condition. So proceed with caution is all I'm saying with this thread.

No, a BIN is protected and can be returned for a refund if it's not as described. I think you already know this. How did the seller contact you? If there's a record of the conversation, you can complain to eBay. That might not produce a refund, but selling off-site might get him banned. Did you file negative feedback?
The "same outcome" in the sense of getting a tube which in reality was not at all as the listing described it as far as testing results reported. So there's really nothing to analyze or go back and forth about with this situation anymore. Clearly the seller knew it was a dog of a tube which is why he offered me a better deal direct to "save himself on fees" Like I said I take full responsibility for losing my money because I knew better than to give up my buyer protections and knew the risks. Unfortunately for me I lost in this situation but the message here in all this is this seller is a bonafide liar and when confronted with the real testing of the tube suddenly the seller claimed his phone wasn't working and couldn't communicate which he absolutely did fine 2 days earlier and he immediately started shucking and jiving. Thats when I knew it was all intentional from the start and not an honest mistake on the seller's part as I always give people the benefit of the doubt to make things right. On the second day of trying to chase him down about this suddenly he was able to text again only to claim he was on vacation suddenly and unavailable. So it became laughable quickly and the guy is just a scammer looking to do people dirty. Best i can do is put the word out and make it harder for him to get over on the next guy hopefully.

Well, don't think you're the only one. I was taken for the cost of a group of 211 tubes in the early days. It was before eBay had their current policy protecting buyers, and in fact, PayPal told me at one time back then that they always represent the financial interest of the seller. I still have that e-mail somewhere. Anyway, the seller in my case did the same dodge and weave after I complained, and I lost hundreds of dollars on the defective tubes. I learned a lesson from that and haven't been bitten since. Sorry this happened to you, hope you get the tubes you need.
I don't see a Mullard 12AX7 on his eBay sold page.

are the 10m series tubes actually something special or was that just a marketing scheme?

Mullard's 10M tubes were from the same manufacturing process, same materials, and are indistinguishable from the other such tubes made in the same factory at the same time. The only difference is in screening/selection and packaging/labeling.

His prices are absurd: I can't imagine purchasing anything from him.
In similar suations on Ebay, not tubes, I have had good luck using the ebay guarantee. Unless sold "as is," which I gather is not the case here.
Notify the seller and ebay that you want to return for refund including shipping as item was not as listed. Include pictures showing your test results. Eventually, I think, the seller will have to send you a prepaid shipping label.
