I have a Scott 222C which is actually a 7189A amplifier. The previous owner said it had been converted to use with EL84s and it came with 6N14Ns. I'm about to invest in a couple of vintage pairs of ELK84s and I want to make sure there won't be a problem... that he did in fact adjust the plate voltage for use with EL84s.
Follow Ups:
Yes direct sub for 6BQ5.
6BQ5 is rated for 300 volts plate and screen. The Russian 6N14P has same operating characteristics as 6BQ5, but rated for 440 volts with 400 volts screen and is same as 7189A.
Oh, 6N14P! I see where I was confused. Thanks!
6N14N is a valid 6BQ5. The 6N14P is a higher voltage version is all.
