Not only is this identical electrically, but the triode pinout in the 6AQ7 is identical to the pinout of one of the triodes in a 6SL7.

I am searching for a tube similar to how the 6j5 is half of a 6sn7. Preferably an early model of the type similar in appearance to a 6j5g but thanx again for the suggestion.
He wants the input tube to look like the driver tube.

I think the OP is out of luck unless he moves to one of the early pentodes or tetrodes. That brings its own issues, like a different socket and filament voltage, and perhaps also a circuit modification to reduce the gain.
