Either red or burnt orange. Just wanted a pop of color. I have a black amp and a deep blue amp. It's a 12GN7 to EL509/40GK6. I had a typo. One Electron UBT-1 Outputs and Deuland coupling caps. It sounds very nice. Big presentation......re-read your post. That's a reflection. It's not a red plate in the tube!

and is a no - no to run the tube that way, I don't care how it sounds. Maybe someone else like Tre' will explain it to you.
You will get thermal runaway eventually from out-gassing if I'm correct
it's your first pic that shows the symptom
I can't tell if it's the exposure or some of the red top plate being picked up. You don't see a red glow with the naked eye with all the lights turned off at night. May try another photo. I have had maybe 30 tube amps. Never one that glowed red. That photo does appear to show at hot spot though. You did motivate me to look at it more closely. I am following up with the builder.
...it's on the right of the tube on top left of the pic. See what I mean?? A red spot on the plate structure (not the 'entire' plate) of the FIRST picwhere is everybody, it's not Christmas or Thanksgiving??

Yes. I see what was picked up in the photo. You really can't see it with the naked eye. I switched tubes took more pictures and you can't really see anything. That photo reminded me of my northern light photos, could NOT see red and purple with naked eye but colors showed up with the same low light filter. Will keep an eye on it. Thanks for the heads up. Are you in NJ?

yes. I'm in Central NJ. Good luck with the Tubes, I used to nothing but Tubes, mostly for actual players amps
I believe I bought that VPI from you?
the VPI table?
Yes!
how's the Table? I bought it as a demo from Woodbridge Stereo many moons ago. It was a pain to setup (what doesn't) but when all went correctly it sounded wonderful. I used to have 6 tables (nutcase) but I'm down to 3 now, two in actual usage, one JIC
Lots of CD's too. Since then I had a flood in the basement, lost half of my vinyl collection or more. some real treasures. That table taught me how to really spin good tunes.
Best of Fortune to you GEO
It's nice to hear from you! Sorry about the flooding. I mounted the cartridge but not set up the table yet!! I have everything I need. Daughter moved home temporarily and it's been over a year! We enjoy having her but it would be nice to set up my basement space. Thanks for the heads up on the tube. I switched it and don't see the red spot but I couldn't see it with my naked eye. I see even less of it now at night with my camera phone. Will send another picture later. All the best to you and your wife. I will get back down to Princeton in January!
but we upgraded all the sump pumps, I had only! 1 foot of water in the basement but my neighbor across the street had FIVE feet. Next to me the neighbor didn't have ANY.
It doesn't make any sense. We took a drive to the hardest hit town of Manville - it was destroyed. Streets were lined with garbage everywhere.
What a mess, I almost lost my Quads 57's, it happened so fast.
Princeton looks so nice around Christmas!
So sorry to hear that! One of these days I hope to see you again. I get down to Princeton frequently.
