"Does Bluetooth diminish sound quality?
To enable this data to pass from one device to another, Bluetooth relies on SBC (low complexity subband coding) compression to 'fit' your music through the technology's imaginary 'thin pipes' - once again, resulting in less detail heard in your music. This doesn't sound great for true music lovers.""Does USB sound better than Bluetooth?
Bluetooth streaming vs USB input. While it is a good wireless option, Bluetooth's sound quality is usually not as good as a direct USB connection. Bluetooth offers higher resolution than MP3 music (320 kbps), but it doesn't offer the same resolution as high-res music or even CDs, like USB does.""What is better than Bluetooth?
Simply put, a Wifi connection gives you the best sound. This is because it has much greater bandwidth." JBLThis link goes into the nuts and bolts of the issue. It is worth the read.

BT is a short range data link with speed up to 3 Mbit/sec.
BT uses codecs for audio and video.
BT audio codecs are exactly what is needed for free internet audio streaming.
If I wanted to subscribe an expensive service for receiving a streaming of studio quality audio I would not use BT.
As soon as demand arises I think there is no problem in adding a 'lossless' audio codec to BT.
For the time being I listen to internet streaming of free music content and I could not care less of the supposed limitations.

Neither would I.
