He was obviously incorrect - because some of us do.

Is this still the cathode driven circuit? If I know you it'll be a "big" triode!
I've always been a fan of the simplicity of your e-linear circuit using the UL taps for the pentode driver stage and having a single LC power supply.
It is not a very big triode at all. 65W plate rating. But using it zero biased, and comfortably driving its grid positive is going to yield some significant power whilst staying Class A... :)
