The 5AR4 is one of my favourite rectifiers, same as GZ34. If you have Sovtek GZ34s in there I'd leave them in - they are excellent. I use them myself. I don't know which Russian rectifiers you have there, but don't assume they're no good. Many Russian tubes sound excellent.I believe the current production Sovtek was modelled on the Mullard GZ34, with serrated plates. But the older Sovteks sound good too.
Given the price of Mullards these days, I'd stay with Sovteks.
