Hi, Inmate51!
I know exactly where Meyer Sound is located and it is not a great distance from where I live in Berkeley.
I do not know John and Helen Meyer personally, however. Last year in November or early December, Meyer Sound Labs held a little AES event where they screened a neat video about the life of the late Jack Mullen of Ampex fame.
They also were very kind and offered excellent refreshments!
The relatively new screening room at Meyer Sound is very impressive.
I have been to the screening rooms now at Skywalker Sound (The "Stag Theater"), the one at Dolby, Pixar and a few years ago before they closed down operations at 10th and Parker in Berkeley, at the original Fantasy Studios room.
Each one of these facilitis is amazing, but the modest but well engineered one at Meyer is quite impressive, comparatively.
Incidentally, the sound system at Skywalker's "Stag Theatre" has been duplicated at Pixar, since they share media a lot of the time and had to sort of standardize matters.
Thanks for asking!

Hey Richard,
Thanks for the reply. Many years ago, John Meyer taught me almost everything I know about loudspeakers. Since starting his company in the late '70s, they've brought a lot of great products to market. (None of which I can afford! :( )
I was aware of their facility tour during AES. Unfortunately, I had to miss that convention. Glad you were able to go!

I've done the virtual tour of Skywalker ranch and it is pretty heavy duty. Which speakers did Meyer sound have in their screening room. I've heard the X-10 and they're great!
Hi, ironbut:
You can visit the official Meyer Sound Lab site and read all about the Pearson Theatre, here:
http://www.meyersound.com/news/2006/pearsontheatre/
The following is an excerpt regarding the loudspeaker installation, however:
"While the possibilities for loudspeaker configuration are essentially unlimited, the room's standard configuration is for 5.1 channel theatrical playback. Meyer Sound CQ-1 wide-coverage main loudspeakers are installed for the five main channels. The front loudspeakers are positioned to avoid the high-frequency filtering effect that typically results from placement behind the screen, making the space more suitable for applications such as live music. To maintain dialog imaging at screen level, the center CQ-1 mounted above the screen is complemented by an M1D ultra-compact curvilinear array loudspeaker mounted below the screen."
The room is pretty phenomenal, overall!
They should indeed be very proud of this accomplishment, too!
