I've posted here the most interesting pic of the auction.
did you ever see a cassette deck and 8 track in the same device??
Follow Ups:
Yep in almost every discount and dept store in the late 70's Soundesign, York, Technic's, as well as the Sears, Wards, Pennys branded ones, and a few others made all in ones some with the two tape decks some with a TT on top as well.
They were very very common in my college dorm in 1976
OMG "Soundesign"...lol!! When I first hit college, all the kids had stereos in their dorm rooms. So I went down to a discount stereo shop and bought a "Soundesign". I was perfectly happy until I was taken to another dorm by my roommate and listened to a Marantz 2325 pushing Tandberg speakers and LPs be played on a Thorens. Then I started going to stereo shows and got the bug....badly.
I've seen many. Mostly lo-fi dreck from Soundesign, GPX, Lloyd's, Capehart, and other similar companies. There were a couple of Panasonic units that were maybe marginally better, and I once saw a Centrex by Pioneer unit.
Mostly, they were only good as a doorstop.
Cheers,
Bobbo :-)
Yes.
Not unusual.
Back then.
