deck for just some casual taping. It looks like this deck is a pro model. Are these repairable at a reasonable price? What is a range to pay for one in good condition?
Thanks.

audiogatorjim,
...the humble, often dismissed Revox B77 mkII/PR99 mkIII, properly sorted snd set-up to a good tape by an ex-recording studio maintenance technician (or a tech of that calibre) is really quite a tough act to follow. Yea, the tape transport is a little crude and heavy handed and ultimately the mid-range stability and frequency extremes give the game away that it's a domestic rather than pro unit - but, gosh, you have to be running a good full range system to realise it's limitations (imho)...
good luck

...the parts for either the A80 or the A810 is going to be very high as they were professional mastering decks. Parts are avaliable but not cheap. Ray Hughes
Heads for one of these machines can run upwards of 1 grand. All heads wear because the metal used for good magnetic permeability is rather soft. There are a number of parts avaliable directly from Studer. Occasionally some parts are featured on ebay but the chances of them being used are great. These are big machines also, the size of a washing machine with a console cabinet. An audiophile would do better with like Techniks 1500 or an Otari MX5050. These heads wouldn't be that expensive. Ray
The A810 is a much smaller machine than the A8, comparable in size to consumer machines. Generally however, the A807 is regarded as being more reliable than the A810.
