Maxell has ended production of XL II tapes

I got confirmation today from Maxell Europe
Production of XL II tapes ended (almost silently) last year
Maxell have kept selling out their stocks.
Meaning that probaly VERY soon XL II tapes will no longer be avaible.
So hurry to stock up.

Maxell will continue to produce UR Tapes but theres no planned
any update on the tape.

Anyway sad news to see the XL II disapear

I contacted Maxell in Canada and they said as far as they know its not discontinued. They said they still have stock of the tape and can't say why Europe is saying this other then maybe its not selling well there. But in case the Canada outlet was not informed, keep your eyes open.

  Just to add a bit more. I talked to another at Maxell in the US and in Canada. The US sites no discontinuation, but in Canada she did say the 60 minute and 110 minute are now discontinued. The 90 minute is still here for now, but she said it is going to the point it too will be axed.

  Not in Canada we don't. Also RS only sells normal bias tapes, which probably aren't much better then Maxell UR or TDK D.

Its funny how the worst tape of their entire lineup would be the one to be last one standing. Goes to show no one is using tape for music anymore.
