The tape hiss, the tape itself, and the limitations of the deck may mask and/or reduce some of the undesirable qualities of the digital sources; and frequency response aberrations of the deck may make for a tonal quality which you might prefer. Of course, this is likely to vary from one source recording to another, so some might be more appealing, others not.
Try it, and see!
I bought 16bit 44.1khz FLAC and a Tape of the same thing.
The tape sounded not so good.
