Nakamichi BX 150 head issue

I just acquired a nak 150 bx with good sound in all modes. however there seems to be some substance on the head that won't go away with head cleaner.
please see pictures . it is a white substance right between the rectangles on the head. Might it be some form of oxidation? The head feels smooth when touching so there is no abrasion. The main concern is if this may damage the tape in the short or long run.

Can you get a closer picture? Maybe the closer picture will give the Inmates a better idea of what the "problem" is!!

If it's smooth and there's no abrasion, how would it damage the tape?

Does it leave a mark on the tape?
