Much better design than my spartan looking Revox PR99 MKII. I have a hunch that it will come in two units. One for the transport and one for the VU meter and controller. Similar design to the Studer A-820, but more compact and slimmer body.

I see an Ampex ATR-100 or 101 on the right. Are these your decks, and if so, do you care to make a sonic comparison?
:)
These units are not mine as I borrowed the image from the 'net. However, I do own the Revox PR99 MKII RTR and the Revox B215 cassette deck.
I did compare the Otari MX 55 III unit against my Revox Pr99 MKII and I found that at 15IPS there's not much difference in SQ between the two. Although, I still prefer the Revox for its overall warmer sounding characteristics and sweeter top end.

I think you will find that the Revox is capable or delivering a higher signal level to the tape than the Otari. (Remember, each machine's electronics are optimized for a particular tape type, so pick the highest output tape type, and hit it hard.) We're interested in s/n and distortion. Also look at "head bump" at the 15 ips speed.
I think, in an earlier post, you said something about your "Spartan" PR 99. Don't count it out - that puppy is a hellava machine!
