I have a cassette recorder i bought many years ago new. A Sherwood. I record a lot the question is I seem to remember there was a device that would rewind your tapes to save your tape heads if so could someone direct me to a decent purchase.? Also any info people would care to throw at me proper head cleaning, anything would be much appreciated but thats asking a lot. I love this deck I wish I could get the manual for it but its very old and don't think that is possible.
Thank you for your time.
John

Maybe thinking of VHS video tape rewinders?. Never heard
of a cassette rewinder. But yes, your tape head retracts
away from the tape for FF or RW. Not an issue.
Cassette recorders generally do not engage the heads with the tape during fast forward/rewind. I would not worry about that. At best, a separate rewind machine would save some wear and tear on the take-up hubs & idler wheels.
