Quite a lot of mine from the 1950-80s carry an MSRP of $7.95 or thereabouts. I believe the Barclay-Crockers were higher priced but can't remember the exact figures. When reel tapes started disappearing, they went for ludicrous prices. More than a few early RCA's -- 2-tracks, yet -- went for sticker prices as low as 99 cents (I've removed those stickers from mine :-)
Now that new tapes HAVE largely disappeared, you routinely see three-figure Ebay sale prices on such tapes as Brubeck's "Time Out" and Miles' "Kind of Blue," and that's for 4-track versions. I remember one TWO-Track of "Kind of Blue" going for $2,100 last year, and since the 2-track has only 3 of the original 5 tunes, that works out to $36 per MINUTE.

...used to carry a large inventory of used commercial tapes. I spoke with an individual or two that had acquired some rather collectible 2-track tapes from them. One was the aforementioned KOB 2-track. I think the price paid was considerably less than what they go for nowadays. Something like $100. But that was before year 2000.
I think it was Irvington Music. They're still open for biz but it would seem that most of the hot items are long gone.
