I just picked up a sony TC-366 that appears to be in nice shape. It does need a new counter belt, but seems okay other than that. I have attempted to take the front cover off the unit to lubricate the unit and to replace the counter belt. I'm almost there, but I cannot figure out the proper way to take off the knob on the Lock lever. I have tried to pry it up and off the shaft with a pair of screwdrivers, and I have attempted to unscrew it, assuming that there is a thread. However, the knob isn't budging either way.
My question, is how does one take this knob off? How is it attached to he lever? The manual and diagrams are not very enlightening as they don't show enough detail about the level knob and lever to have any confidence in any way of taking it off.
Thanks.

The knob unscrews clockwise instead of counter clockwise. I buggered one on a TC377 before I realized this.

Wow!!! I never would have thought of trying to unscrew it by turning clockwise. Thank you. Came right off.

Look on the side if it and see if there is a set screw there.
I was out last evening when I saw your message, and I was really hoping that I'd come home and find a set screw.
Unfortunately, there is no set screw.
I did squirt a few drops of WD-40 where any thread or friction fit would have to be and I'll see if I have any better luck when that has had a chance to work it's magic.
Any other ideas. If it's not a set screw, it would seem as though it either would have to be threaded or just a tight press fit. Unfortunately, since I cannot get the cover off until I've removed that knob, there's no way to look more closely at the connection to get a hint.

on a separate note on the TC 366, they had a common problem with premature failure of the main filter capacitors. May want to check it and replace if needed, Sorry can't remember the release method for that.
