Akai GXC 570D

I have picked up this Akai GXC 570D deck at a very reasonable price, it looks very clean, the only issue is the dolby indicator lamp is out.
I am writing to find out what kind of a deck this is, where does it stand in terms of compatibility with Nakamichi, and Revox, Tandberg etc?
In addition, it has tape settings for Chrome(type II), Low Noise(type I) and Ferro_Chrome(type III?). So what would be appropriate setting for a metal cassette?

I have never seen one before; however a quick google shows that there is a page on the Vintage Knob and a mnaual on HiFiEngine-
Seems to be a well built unit - though Mid '70s
not a Dragon Slayer, but no slouch...
