I have two, a 2300 SX, (was there a non-sx version, and what does the 'SX' mean?)
and a 2340R (I'm assuming the 'R' means it reverses, but it's reverse function is shaky at best.)
I would like to find ot more about them, such as mods, service info, owners manual, etc.
Anyone own one? How do you like it?

I have the original sales brochure on these Teac decks. The 2300SX was a non Dolby basic deck. So to answer your question,no there was never a non SX version. The A-2300SD was the same deck but included Dolby noise reduction.
My understanding is that the A2300SX was a later model and there was indeed a plain old A2300 (Google seems to confirm this). I have the Dolby version and it's a fine machine -- better made than the later 1000 series (which I also owned) according to my now-retired tech -- but I use the Dolby function only for playback.
I do quite a lot of dubbing from my A2300SD to my Otari MX5050 BII, and the sound quality of the dubs says a lot about the Teac's strengths.
Thanks for the answer.
How is the s/n ratio of the Dolby deck?
I know back in the day, cassette decks that had Dolby disappointed me with the change in their sound.

74 db with DOLBY 65 db without!
Wow, quite a difference!
I guess I have two wishlists;
Dolby and tube electronics!

Go for the tubes first. The Dolby can wait!
Unfortunately, the Dolby is more doable :(

If you want the original brochure for the 2300 deck let me know and you can have it.
Thank both of you for the (what I should have done) suggestions.
Not suggested but I found several interesting Youtube video's.

They should have at least some of what you seek. Link below.
Free registration required to d/l their stuff, and well worth the effort... they have tons (or perhaps even tonnes) of stuff available, and more all the time.
The sister site, www.vinylengine.com is also very useful for all things vinylistic.
all the best,
mrh
There seems to be a lot of information with a Google search
for Teac 2300sx.
There is a manual available at hifiengine
regards to all,
John
