I have been queried by people in regard to specific material I posted on Outside over the years, including technical information that might land me a new job. I am wondering if there is a way to retrieve old posts, by means of a search. Response is appreciated. For what it's worth, the wiping out of Water Cooler and Outside has really discouraged me from posting here, for I've been treating these postings as public record, often referencing material posted throughout the site. I presumed this material would be around indefinitely, but now realize it can be gone in an instant. (I will be saving such postings from the remaining active boards, to alleviate the issue with those postings.)

You can get those posts via the search engine. None of the data disappeared. Typically, we just put a forum on an archive basis. Old posts are always there.
It's only redirected in the web server. We can change that if folks want to access it. Do you really link to Outside or Water Cooler posts? I thought that lots of folks would like to disavow themselves.
Anyway, the redirects were done to direct traffic. It's surely moved by now. And you can get the data via the backdoor. Use the Threads view and type the message number into the search engine url.

"Do you really link to Outside or Water Cooler posts?"
Yes, in fact..... I have put forth some explanations that many have enjoyed reading. Even from those who disagree.

I might be the only person on AA who really misses that board..... I guess I didn't have much of a problem there because I almost never take things personally.
