I posted a Linn LK85 amp on Audiogon last week at $450 plus shipping, had hundreds of views in a few days, and sold it for $425 plus shipping. It was posted here with no response. It cost me a total of $8.25 to sell it on Audiogon so I'm going where I can get results.
I am suprised at the outrage over Audiogon's new policy given it is basically the same model eBay has been using for years only less. They have built up their business to this point and are now cashing in. No problem here. If I had sold the amp on eBay I figure it would have cost me over twice what I paid Audiogon and you have to deal with the eBay crazies.

If you'd waited it out, you'd have gotten a sale and sent a message.
It's a chicken and an egg issue and so long as folks chicken out and list on Audiogon, they'll get rewarded and pay and we won't grow.
Give it 30 or 60 days. If you don't get it sold, then list it there. If the eggs figure out the listings are here, it'll all change.

I'll be honest and state that I am getting nervous about the prospects of selling items here, as I have not even had one inquiry about the speakers I have had listed here for the last two weeks.
(I think I have them priced pretty fairly, so I don't think that is an issue.)
I will stick it out until the ad here runs out.
After that, I might have to hold my nose, and go back to Audiogon.
Wish me luck Rod!!!

Raiderman, hang tight and be patient. If you're in a hurry, maybe AA isn't the place to sell. I think Rod is right that you need to be willing to wait 4 weeks. I encourage you to give it a chance to work. Yes, you can probably sell at AudioKremlin in a day or two, but if we all cave in, AA doesn't have a chance.
What a fine example of a well-run business.
I didn't say items sell fast at AA. I said look at the traffic. I said this above, but I'll say it again: It wasn't the fees that drove me to AA. It was Audiogon's heavy-handed censorship in their forums. Try to post anything critical of their actions or their site and see if it gets through. Their unspoken rule is "don't question us." That's completely unacceptable and I refuse to support them anymore.
I agree the forums are heavily moderated, but why should I care? I sold my goods at a good price in a timely manner with minimum hassle at a low cost. As of now Audiogon is the only place to do that. The only other real alternative is eBay and I would have paid more over there. I'm not going to punish myself by staying away just because I don't like the way they run their forums.
Sell there, chat here.
