How does AA know I am me?

If I clean out all my cookies, temp files, etc and restart, I can still come back and delete my prior posts even without signing in. How does AA know it's still me?

Howdy
Did you use the "Eat Me" or "Logout" link on the asylum to eat your cookies or did you use your browser's delete cookies option?
The reason I ask is that if you had a browser open when you used the browser's cookie delete, etc. the Asylum info was still in memory and for all I know gets saved in Asylum cookies when the browser is closed.
When I use the asylum Logout I don't even get a "Delete" link on my posts till I log back in.

  ...every window except my home page and then run Internet Options/Tools/etc to clean things up and shut down. The next time I come on I still have delete rights on AA so it knows I've come back. The clean up isn't cleaning something up. Odd.
