Sorry to keep harping on this, but I travel a bit, and it seems everytime I come to this site, it is different and behaves differently. Sometimes I have no control over the computer settings.
Today, everytime I switch forums, it goes back to the hideous "new" view. I click classic, then it works fine. But as soon as I go to a new forum, it starts over in the new ugly view.
It was said earlier in the faq I believe on changing views, that the majority prefer the classic view. Why can that just be the default for everyone like it has been for years?
Follow Ups:
Are you logging in when you visit?
I've found a few little quirks and have been working to resolve all of the issues. The only thing you need is one simple DV cookie which would be set when you log in. If you delete cookies all the time, then you must login when you visit to get the cookie set.
I checked your account and the view is correct for Classic. If you see your name in the upper left corner, so you know you're logged in, you absolutely should never get anything but the Classic view when you click on forums or messages. If you do, please let me know the url of the page you were on and the link that you clicked. then I can track down the problem.

Hey Rod,
I never had to log in to get the cool view before.
Anyhow, here is a link:

Thanks.
It is for me, I must be lucky, and I agree with you.
Another added extra feature is the addition of what my Ad-Aware SE Personal spyware program considers "critical objects"(Tracking Cookies) that can slow down ones computer if not removed. This was not so with the old version of AA, as it (did) place cookies but they were considered non-evasive by my spyware program thus needing no action for removal.
Anybody else software picking these cookies up?
with the latest definition and nothing from Audio Asylum was on the list. I don't believe what you found had anything to do with us.
If that's not true, tell what the cookie name is.
-Rod
my post is not intended to condem, just to see if anyone else has had this problem. I will run a scan(version 1.0r1) and let you know.

Well, the problem is that off the cuff comments like that scare people. If it's true, fine, we need to look at it. I simply prefer that people are sure before they make that type of comment.
-Rod
I ran the program more than a couple of times and had it narrowed down to AA which seemed to ALWAYS leave a "critical object" warning alert on my Ad-Aware program; this is why I asked. I found this very strange as it had not happened before(ie the new site change)!
In any event, I am pleased to write when switching to Mozilla Firefox I did not get the same tracking cookie to reappear, it only pops up when I go through Explorer and my MSN Home Pg(msnportal.1) and to AA. I do not know why this happens, maybe you could shed light on this?
Therefore I must conclude it is not from AA stand alone but am still curious to hear from Dawnrazor to see if he finds the same result.
bill
Hey,
I thought that tracking cookie was from AA because what you posted, and all the changes, and that I never get critical objects in Adaware.
Anyhow, I don't think it had anything to do with AA. I ran adaware, and it cleaned the cookie, then I browsed on AA, signed in, etc. No tracking cookie was found.
Anyhow, the good thing is that it looks like I am not crazy, and not alone in my disdain of the new view.
AA is the best audio forum on the planet, and I can't see why all the sudden there is a "me too" mentality when all the other forums suck.
I am just glad I found AA long ago, otherwise, seeing that new format, i would have skipped it.
What cookies?
The only thing that I can guess might be the issue is Google's urchin cookies perhaps. Those are part of the web analytics and surely don't slow you down, That's just not true. And those have been around for a couple years. I actually set far fewer cookies than in the last version.
-Rod
YES. I did a scan the other day and it found the same cookie. I didn't know it was from AA and was fairly concerned. Thanks for letting me know.
I think if you bookmark a "classic" page and start from there, for some reason everything stays in that view. The problem occurs if you open AA through the main page.
I agree about preference of the classic view, by the way.
