In Reply to: RE: Problem with Asylum Registration? ... keeps saying the passwords don't match. posted by LD on May 21, 2007 at 10:26:18
... the problem with matching passwords persists, I just tried it again. If there is a way to not get around it let me know. Thanks.
The matching passwords is something I've heard but can't duplicate.

... I'm just using a similar moniker that is not registered. Would it be indiscreet to ask you what started all this, was it an upgrade?
... another new feature, unregistered posters are challenged with a CAPTCHA test, are you really having a problem with automated posting?
... I also tried my full real name, another email and a different password as well as other different settings. Both tries gave me the password not correct error. Very odd. I'm surprised anyone can register at this point.
I really don't know. Most people have had no problems at all. A few suddenly seem to have them, so it must be something with the new server.
CAPTCHA? Yeah, it's a slick little utility. Spammers have been a horrendous problem, literally thousands of attempts per day. It may have been one of the problems with the old server getting bogged down.

... I just tried my real name, another email account and all sorts of other settings and got the same password problem.
Is there a minimum number of characters or a alphanumerical requirement in the password?
Nope, there's no requirement on passwords for length. 40 people have registered in the last 2 days and I don't see any errors in the log, so when did you try it?

You might look into the system's response to the use of periods; but I'm not messing with it anymore.
... %22L.D.%22 as a moniker, I assume because the new server does not like periods? ... so I'll have to decide if I want to keep this moniker.
... was not a link to my profile any more. Hmmmm ... there seems to be a lot of problems with this new server! I may just wait a bit until things calm down...
