Easy to get a broad 6 db impact suck out in midrange if the relationship between speaker driver height and listeners ears is not addressed. The magnitude of impact is individual speaker design layout and xover implemented
For many a two way, one inch below correct height at listening distance (15 degree above tweeter) can easily be 3 db drop from 800ish to 2200ish.
I guess I'm not fully in touch with how to get others involved in speaker building or improving. Was not that long ago ability to measure was a significant tool and software investment, and found that to be an impediment to spawning new participants. Kinda like telling someone interested in crafting wood that they had to get a CNC machine first, when I'd say they could start by whittling.

rather than spealer stands, what about tilt and knee function?/NT
I subscribed to speaker builder back in the day...
I have most issues in my bookshelf from 1980 to 1991.
I love your attention to detail.
I wrote a few programs for the hp 41 calculator.
Alos studied Dickasons cookbook and Weems.
My tweeters are approx. 25" above floor, my ears are 38" above floor.
Educate me about the knee function please.
Looks like I need 13" speaker stands, relative to tweeter height.
I delved into speaker theory for a few years, prototyping hard drives.
The heads were driven by rotating speaker coils.( maybe 45 degreea)
Linear driven heads had to much inertia....
wonderful chatting, I miss the input...and thought processes.- if being retired.
