I started with a pair of Advents when I moved to San Diego in 1970. Later when I read about Double Advents in TAS I added a second pair. Some time after than a staff at one of our local audio stores recommended rolling off the woofer in one of the Doubles to boost upper bass and lower mids. I think that was with an inline capacitor. That was the best result of all.

Follow Ups:
The real problem with double Advents was the comb filter affect caused by the parallel tweeters. It made the sound diffuse and less clear.
I once was involved in a comparison for a friend of a friend between double Advents and my IMF Studio 2 speakers. We all preferred the IMFs. But what was more interesting was when after the comparison I got the idea of going to single Advents and the result was clearly what I described in the 1st paragraph. Double Advents were a hot item because Harry Pearson loved them. They did have more bass(better?) and a wider sound stage but it was as I said diffuse. Single Advents produced more information.
That was in the mid and late '70s and I was still learning about the finesse of audio reproduction..
Had someone mentioned comb filtering to me then I would have thought that was to remove dandruff.
