I've finally acquired two working pairs of The Advent Loudspeaker (large Advents) and wanted to try them together. What's the best configuration: vertical side-by-side, vertical stacked (to make towers), or horizontal stacked? Also, any special precaution to avoid blowing the tweeters? I'll probably hook these up to A+B speaker setting.

I'll throw out another option to try as an interesting experiment that no one else seems to mention(I'm probably wrong, there' rarely anything new under the sun). Stack them horizontally, woofer above woofer/tweeter above tweeter. A friend got great results with Dynaco A25s decades ago and mentioned it to me though it was before I knew him so I never heard it. But you should get a sort of line source affect and the interference affects don't look like they would be any worse than the pseudo D'Appolito format usually recommended. It's an easy experiment and worth a try.
Yes, the classic is verticle with the top unit upside down, BUT, I have a twist set-up which is easy to try. Place the second pair directly behind the front pair, with backs-to-backs so to speak. This is a bi-polar arrangement and is worthy of a go.
p.s. i'll be up there end of next week, and will give you a call. I sold my HUGE subs, but hey, I needed to down size, even if only temporary. Looking foward to meeting the audiophiles, and DIY'ers in the area.

By all means check the archives in the Vintage room. The topic has been discussed at great length on numerous occasions. The general consensus is that they should be vertical with the top speaker inverted to keep the tweeters in the middle and prevent too much bass, and they should be wired in series, or biamped. You are less likely to blow a tweeter when there are two to take share the work. There is some debate about whether two really is better than one, and there are definitely some trade offs. Look especially for posts by Bold Eagle.
I stack my doubles in a quasi-D'Appolito arrangement as suggested back in 1973 by HP's review in TAS. I once used the side-by-side arrangement, but that was for sound reinforcement in a high school gym in order to maximize horizontal dispersion.
You will find *hundreds* of posts regarding all things Advent over at vintage. Search for posts by Bold Eagle, a retired engineer, who has experimented with Advents extensively in the areas of crossovers, wiring, cabinet bracing, grill cloths, etc.
While they do not offer the last degree of transparency found with the better speakers today, they are nevertheless capable of very good musical reproduction and can reveal subtle differences upstream in the system.

It's been over 30 years, but if I recall correctly the best setup up was vertically stacked with the top speaker "upside-down". This put the tweeters relatively close together and the woofers further apart. I also seem to recall that we used the speakers on lowish stands, maybe 12" or 16" high. Let us know how it sounds. I do remember that two pairs sounded *much* better than a single pair -- bigger, smoother, and more open.
Instant d'Appolito!
