Hello Kenster,
Not wanting to change the DCR is precisely the reason I wanted to use the original inductor. I knew I had homework to do and thought this would be a great place to start.
And no, I have yet to try a razor knife on the hot glue. I'm not quite ready to dissect the crossover to that degree yet. Everything's mounted on a circuit board, and I don't want to do any damage to the board until I have everything else ready to go for the external set-up. The razor knife is a good suggestion though, maybe along with some heat from a heat gun.
I did replace the electrolytic in series with the tweeter tonight. Put in a 5 mF 100 V MIT film cap I had a pair of. So far the results are good.
Appreciate the feedback!

I would suggest U dispense with the PCB and wire all the components up point to point. IME, PCB's R detrimental due to the capacitive and resonant nature of the PCB material.
I have a pair of NHT 1.5i's that I have moved the x-over PCB from the input terminals down to the cabinet floor, attaching it with blu-tak, and replacing the wire with AudioMagic silver/teflon coated wire with VERY good results.
If I were to do an outboard x-over, dispense with the PCB altogether and do PTP construction/wiring.

Yes sir, an external, point to point wired crossover was my game plan. I ordered the Auricaps and Blackgates yesterday, and bought the resistors from North Creek years ago.
I'm not going to attempt hacking away at the choke until I have everything ready to go. That way if I destroy the circuit board I'm not speakerless.
Glad to hear your NHT crossover worked so well for you. What type of enclosure did you build it in?
Thanks again.
Good luck with your project. By the way, how R U planning on running the woofer/tweeter wiring harness to the cabinet/drivers?
I have been toying with the idea of removing the x-overs in my pair of Acarian Systems Alon 1's and mounting them in seperate boxes in the same manner as my pair of Alon Lotus SE mk ll's. Nola will even sell me all that is required including the external boxes. I just need to make it happen one of these days.
Luv the System Weakness comment in your System Profile.....I LOL :-)
Cheers,

I haven't fully worked that out yet. Most likely I'll remove the plastic cup at the back of the speaker which contains the binding posts. I'll make up an aluminum plate with two pair of binding posts attached, one pair for each driver. Attach the plate with screws and some gasket material, and I'm done.
I've also considered the same type of plate with holes drilled, and just run the speaker wire directly to the drivers. I'll use silicone to seal up around the hole after the wires are in place. This is probably a better way to go (eliminates connectors), but it really isn't very practical.
Glad you liked my "system weakness" comment. I mean, this is hi-fi, not the Miss Universe contest. What's with those questions?!!
Good luck with your project. I'll post my results when I'm done if anyone's interested.
Take care.

I just re-read your post and saw you mounted it inside the speaker cabnet.
