Hi Bobby, I am still using the quicksilver mini mono amps but now with a Transcendent sound GG preamp. I am using a short (~3 ft) thick monster cable, single run with your jumpers. I still enjoy the system really much, just that I do miss the powerful lower end provided by floorstanders, when I heard from a friend's system. And my budget is quite limited so amps that cost 3k are out of my range.
BTW, are you still playing around with the BAM-like idea for TSM? Or is it not going to happen? Thanks.
champion,
a bam for the tsm will not happen. what we have been toying with is a bandpass filter at the fs of the woofer to reduce 2nd and 3rd order harmonic distortion in the bass and im distortion in the mids. this has a positive effect in all ways but you lose a bit of warmth because the woofer is not playing below 48 hz. it is an 90% win win situation but still some would not understand the benefits in lowering distortion and increased power handling. if you were to use a more punchy sounding amp it would help. if you were to use a sub it would also help but be sure to use a sub with a second or fourth order filter that you can vary the frequency to at least 50 hz. you may want to try the sub crossed over higher like at 70 or 80 hz but i would use the tsm full range for best sound (to not run the tsm through the sub crossover). try it both ways to be sure. front firing is better than down imho.
ok?

Thanks for your info Bobby. So will the bandpass filter be made available to the customer?
I am looking at the ACI force XL sub (reasonably priced and plenty of useful adjustments). And they also sell a passive high pass filter to connect between the pre and power amp. Is it something worth trying or do you think it is better to not have the filter?
Thanks.
i would have to hear it to be sure and i have not champion.
sorry.

Not to interrupt this thread, but I would like to mention that moving from the current speaker cable to an Audience AU24 could make a considerable improvement - it certainly did for me when I went from PS Audio Xtreme Statement cables to the AU24 (and I now use all AU24 cabling in my system). More detail, better balance, less grain and "fuzz" - just much more realistic sounding cables.
