I'm a Silverline lover but want to use something for my mains for a 2.1 channel home theater project that will also be used for music convert DVDs with a high-end Denon DVD player and 65" Sharp Aquos. I was considering the Silverline Sonata III (which I used to own but sold,... love them) or something from Klipsch. It needs to be a full-range floorstander, and will be complimented with a passive sub.
Should I save my money and not re-acquire some Sonata III and get the Klipsch speakers. If I got the Klipsch, I'd probably get the RF-83 because it seems to be their best floorstander at the present. Would I be disappointed if I'm already used to the Silverline sound. (BTW, I also have the Silverline Sinfonia for two-channel music-only and the smaller SR17,... which are to small for my fixed-point Velodyne SMS-1 crossover/processor.)
Are there no Klipsch lovers here that can vouche for their sonic integrity as a "hifi" product, or are they only "midfi" at best?
What's a Silverline anyway? Are they hi-fi?
The best Klipsch speakers are the motion picture theater stuff. I heard Jubilee theater speakers at a fella's house and they were pretty damned good.
Silverline Audio in Concord, CA under direction of Alan Yun. They're "hifi" for sure. I'm surprised you've never heard of them. Anyway, I was just considering the Klipsch loudspeaker for a HT project but hesitant in fear of disappointment.
Are they bright and forward, or more neutral? Also, do they have a "hifi" sound worthy of critical listening, or are they pretty much just good for pop music? Do you know the model number (or a link) to those other Klipsch speakers you heard? (Thanks!)
The Jubilee sound is neutral with vast dyanamic range and very low distortion. Sort of a Klipsch version of an Altec A5 VOT.
Okay, thanks for your help. I was able to do enough searches on this forum to find the info I was looking for.
I was running a full Klipsch HT system with RB-5 front, RC-3 center and RC-3 surrounds. Very Good sound. Not shrill or sharp at all.
I relaced them with Silverline Preludes front and Minuets center and surrounds. Much better. More balanced. I am getting detail I did not get from the Klipsch - and I am a big Klipsch fan.
Have Fun
