They had a location in/around Orlando back then.
Brings back memories of usenet newsgroups, and Steve Zipser, of Sunshine Stereo.
Forgive the transgression, but thought maybe some folks here would enjoy the trip back in time. :)
Follow Ups:
Damn. You made me feel old. I remember Steve and Sunshine Stereo...
Sound Advice was bought by Tweeter Etc out Boston. That company went belly up in 2008. SA was resurrected by the original owner in 2010. And here we are in 2017, full circle again, with two of their three stores closed. The more things change...
Used to pop into the Sound Advice store in Orlando - between, say 1989 & 1990 (while I was doing my nuclear training in the Navy).
Always loved listening to various Infinity IRS (from the "Beta" on down) - mostly driven by Counterpoint electronics. Will admit? Only thing I ever BOUGHT from them was a huge bit of unterminated Monster Powerline II Plus speaker cable that they had chucked into a big tub of "discount" products. Probably had a total of 50 feet or more - all in 8 foot or greater odd lengths, with scuffs on the outside. Just stuff they'd used to wire up demos, but to ME, with next to no money at the time, it was a killer deal! :)
Yep I also used to frequent them - mainly the one on 436 in Altamonte Springs, though the one on 50 was their "super store" I suppose. I bought a ton of car audio from there, as well as some pretty decent home stereo gear and a Proscan TV. In '91 got a Conrad Johnson PV-11 preamp in black (my first tubed preamp) and a Sonographe (designed by CJ) CD player. Had them both for several years...Used to listen to the DQ-10s and the Apogee Diva and Stage speakers - great memories :)
