I listed a preamp that should have sold for hundreds of dollars on Ebay. I mistakenly set it up as a BIN for $5.95, instead of an auction with $5.95 as the opening bid. (that's very easy to do on Ebay) A buyer snatched it up in five minutes, before I discovered my error. I refused to sell the preamp for $5.95. Although I refunded his payment, he felt entitled to buy the unit for $5.95.
A reasonable buyer would have recognized that it was an error and let me out of the deal. He wanted to take advantage of my error to get something for nothing. It became my only Neg FB with over 3,000 Pos.
He is now blocked from buying any of my listings.

So I agree with you that you were right to cancel it.
Those disagreeing with that just want something for nothing, and expect folks who make an error to have to hand over the stuff.
So I give you a yeah it is what any person would do. Even guys claiming they would not...

I think you're confusing his 'right' to cancel it with consequences to come thereof, with what is 'right'.

This shows you don't have what it takes to succeed in business. When business that deals with primarily in transactions make mistakes, they do pay, ask anyone working in the securities industry.
This is why when air lines make mistakes like $1 round trip from LAX to NYC, they honor their mistakes. (...and of course, 'heads' will roll for those who made errors.)

You're wrong. When hotel reservation make mistakes and give you the economy room price for the corner suite, they still honor them. I know this for a fact.

Doesn't apply to my case. The nordost cable was on the list for 5 days, with a bidding war of about 12 bidding.

Let's get real, on ebay, many sellers list very expensive products for 99 cents to get cheaper listing fees.

Are you being reasonable? Because most buyers would have done the same in the same circumstance based on my experience.
The mistake being yours why should the buyer be inconvenienced for your error? Your perspective is quite jaundiced. And you earned your negative feedback the good old fashioned way, by not delivering what was offered.
