for that they knew my wife's work number.
Bass is supposed to sound big. 6.5" is not a woofer size.
I recently watched a news story about this type of scam. These are professionals who specifically target the elderly. In the news story, they focused on one instance where a lady in her late 70s was conned by a guy who was calling her from prison where he was serving a 5 year term. He got the lady's name and the name of her grandson from an associate on the outside, who was also the guy picking up the cash.
These guys use data mining software, stolen address lists, phone books, etc. to find victims, then research further to find out if the victims have any relatives. All of the info they use is public record, and there's quite a few websites that offer services that scour public records to find information on just about anyone you want... phone numbers, addresses, you name it.
Sheesh, a little vigilante justice and people harangue you for years!
