WARNING! HDTRACKS.COM SITE APPEARS TO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH SECURITY OF CREDIT CARD INFO
Read this thread at Computer Audiophile for more info:
http://www.computeraudiophile.com/content/WARNING-HDTRACKSCOM-SITE-APPEARS-HAVE-PROBLEM-SECURITY-CREDIT-CARD-INFO
The short story is that HDTRACKS.com was informed approximately one week ago that they have a security breach on their site. Over a dozen cases of fraudulent charges to credit cards used at the HDTracks site have been reported at Computer Audiophile. In some cases, the fraudulent charges have been almost immediately after use. The customer who broke the story had cancelled one card after it was used at HDTracks, among other sites. He then used the new card ONLY at HDTracks and had another fraudulent charge appear. After he reported this, several others came forward to say that they had also been victim of fraudulent charges after purchasing items at HDTracks.
Meanwhile, HDTracks has done NOTHING thus far to notify their existing customers of the potential problem, NOR have they prevented further problems from occurring by either warning people on their site or simply shutting down their credit card processing and insisting customers use Paypal. They did post a response on the CA thread in which they say they are looking into the matter.
It may be prudent to check your credit card statements if you've used a credit card at HDTracks. If you have your credit card number on file at HDTracks, you may want to remove it.
There is an unconfirmed report that fraudulent charges from use of credit cards on HDTracks site may have occurred as long ago as last December.
If you have had fraudulent charges after using the HDTracks site, please let people know by posting here, or on the CA thread.

Got this email this evening... I belive it to be valid from HD Tracks:
-----------------------------EMAIL BELOW-----------------------------
We want to alert you that we have recently heard from several customers who believe that their credit card numbers may have been hacked from the HDtracks site. We have been investigating this issue, as we take the security of your information very seriously. We have already implemented additional security to the site and continue to incorporate additional security measures.
Although we do not know if in fact any credit card numbers were indeed stolen from the site or while in transmission to the site, this letter is to advise you, as a precautionary measure to contact the issuer of any credit card[s] that you may have used to make purchases in the HDtracks store, and to request a replacement card with new numbers. This is a good step to take regardless, for any consumer who regularly shops online using a credit card.
Thank you.

on a similiar note, beware of tower.com as they are slow and sometimes non compliant in returning credit on purchases.i've documented and filed official complaints about them with my bank.
I just got hit for $1176 from a "Sunny Wigs & Hair Online". I had just purchased a download from HDTracks.
