I recently got scammed by AudioMagus. I ordered a Trends TA10 amplifier from Audiomagus on Feb 19, 2009. They immediately charged my credit card. I did not receive the amplifier until May 1st. When I got it, it was obviously used, probably returned by someone else, and it was broken. It did not have the original box (or any box at all), one of the feet was missing, the amp had been in a dirty sleeve of bubble wrap with all the bubbles popped, but fell out of that during shipping, and was covered in little pieces of glitter. The amp itself had one channel that not only didn't produce any sound, but had a DC offset that caused my speakers to deflect outward by 1cm and stay there. I hope they haven't been damaged.
I contacted them immediately, they said they'd send a replacement that week. I asked if I should send the amplifier back, and they said not yet, they'd send me a return shipping label with the replacement. So I waited a few weeks, still no amplifier. Then I contacted them again, they said they'd had problems getting them in, but that it was a warehouse issue and he didn't know the details. He said they'd send it out as soon as they get it in. Then after a few more weeks, still no amplifier, I contacted them again, and they said they would send one out that day. Well, it's been a week and a half, still no amplifier.
Now they are not returning my E-mails, and they do not pick up their phone (I've called 4 times a day this whole week, so I would have caught them if they had just stepped out).
So, today I contacted my credit card company to dispute the charge. Just in time too, because it turns out you only have 90 days to dispute the charge, and I'm just under the wire. Some credit cards actually only give you 60 days it turns out. So apparently that's why Audiomagus kept stalling. Also, they warned me that because I hadn't send it back, I might lose the dispute. But they told me not to send it back yet! Just part of their scam it seems. So I'm going to ship it back at my own expense, and you'd better believe I will use a trackable shipping method.
This experience has just been ridiculous. Audiomagus might have been an okay place to order from once upon a time, but my experience has been terrible, and I would rank them an simply a scam outfit now.
Follow Ups:
This is a follow-up to my last posting about my bad experience with AudioMagus. It seems like disputing the credit card charge finally spurred AudioMagus into action. I finally received a replacement Trends 10.1 amplifier. I checked the tracking number, and it wasn't shipped until after I'd disputed the charge, which was well after they'd said they would send it.
It was kind of weird actually, because it just showed up, and they still haven't replied to my E-mails, and they still aren't picking up the phone.
And of course, in true AudioMagus fashion, this one is broken too. At least this appears clean and new, and was in an actual box, with an actual manual, unlike the first one. However, one of the RCA inputs is missing part of the internal conductor, and no RCA plug will stay plugged into it. I can get a plug to stay sitting there long enough for me to test out the amp, if I am careful and don't touch it after I get a signal. So I was able to confirm that the amplifier does in fact work. So what I have decided is that I can replace the RCA socket myself. It should be a simple job to desolder it and swap it with a good one. So I am going to keep the amplifier.
I am disappointed that they didn't do even the simplest quality check before sending this one out, given my experience with the quality of the first one. If they didn't bother trying to plug an RCA input in, there's no way they could have checked to see if the amp worked.
I have to say also, I am a little dissapointed with the Trends 10.1 amp sound, by the way. It sounds good, but nowhere near as good as the 6moons or other reviews have made it out to be. It sounds fine. Nothing special. Certainly not worth 3 months of hassle to acquire. I have an old Yamaha amplifier, for example, that I got off Craigslist for 50 bucks, which sounds just as good.
So I contacted my credit card company and told them to cancel the dispute, and that they can reauthorize the card. Audiomagus should be thankful that I'm so honest, because I haven't heard a word from them asking me to do so.
They did not send me a return shipping label for the original amplifier, which they had promised to do. So now I still don't know if they want the original amplifier back. They are probably too disorganized to care. I guess I am still going to send it back at my own cost, just to protect myself.
In summary, maybe Audiomagus isn't the complete scam that it seemed they were. But they are certainly not worth dealing with. They still aren't answering their phone or their E-mail and even if they do, they'll tell you a whole lot of lies for a long time. Yes, I finally got my amplifier and have come to a resolution on this issue. But it's just been too much hassle. I recommend against buying from them.
Another follow-up, I just received the following mass E-mail from AudioMagus. Their explanation of their situation is completely unsatisfactory. Especially the fact that they plan on continuing to not return communications. Keep in mind also, that they charge your credit card IMMEDIATELY when you order something, and are planning on not fulfilling any of their current orders for some indefinite period of time.

Great news, Audiomagus is in the process of a buyout from another company. What this means is that Audiomagus will soon be back on track offering a great product for a great price.
We would like to thank our past and current customers for the fun conversation and valuable input. It made the experience very memorable.
For the past few months we have been experiencing difficulty in several areas. Most notably fulfillment and communications. As we have been navigating through the numerous issues it became clear that the best option to handle this and have a promising future was to consider working with another company. We expect this process to be complete within the next two weeks.
While this process is occurring we have listed most products as unavailable on the website. This will help ease the transition on our end, once complete the site will be refreshed.
For all customers with current orders or any other type of transaction. We appreciate your patience and understanding so far even though it has been frustrating at times. We are working to complete the transactions we can but honestly many will be delayed until the buyout is complete. Please be assured that we are working as quickly as possible to complete this.
Regarding our communications, this as well will continue to be very inconsistent. We apologize for this but it is the nature of the situation currently. Please be certain that you have not been forgotten.
Once the transition is complete another message will be sent with more details regarding changes with the company and product lines offered.
Best regards,
Mike and Brian

Great company. They are funding their transition by keeping customers' money and not filling orders for products that have been purchased. Anyone who reads this thread and buys from the new company is a fool.

That way you have physical proof that it was delivered and there's a signature to proove it. Use UPS as they make it easier to require a signature than Fedex does. Hope it works out!
