Sorry, we don't have any photos from 40 years ago, when we started 8th grade at Presidio Middle School. But during September 1984, some classmates and I walked to Baker Beach. While the rest of the Bay Area was experiencing Indian Summer, Baker Beach was foggy! And that put us in the mood for The Smiths' "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now."
As audiophiles, we like to take alternative views. You see, the overwhelming convention at Baker Beach is to show the Golden Gate Bridge. But in the photo above, we look the other direction, at Sea Cliff and Lands End.
Likewise for some, The Smiths' "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" put "alt rock" on the map.

Follow Ups:
I am surprised that you did not post about "Ask" so you could tell us you once knew a buck-toothed girl from Luxembourg. David Cameron, the ex-UK Prime Minister, once appeared on BBC Radio's Desert Island Discs and chose a Smiths record (not sure which) and Johnny Marr was incensed because he thought Cameron was the wrong sort of person to be listening to his music, and he issued a decry that Cameron should never listen to The Smiths again.
Now, I would never suggest such a thing, as listening to The Smiths can only build character even if you are starting from a low point. For the future, keep in mind that The Smiths do not go with Californian beaches, something grey and drizzly is more apposite, nor Asian girls in pretty much any setting unless they are posed outside Salford Lads club. So, still some work to do because "you just haven't earned it yet, baby".
