are both at fault here, Stu why? It seems GK made an acceptable inquiry and you chose not to answer it and started the ill will in this thread. Geoff piled on only a little bit but with much much less vitriol than has been seen from him. He was attacked. Can't you wipe the slate clean and try to start over one thread at a time?
Stu it seems to me a show of respect at some level(s) that GK wants info on a tweak you brought to us and now have modded as it has evolved with the addition of caps.
I don't and won't understand this, sorry. Stu I've emailed you that my reaction and desire to keep peace and try to get you two to stop comes from growing up in an alcoholic family where fights happened too often and were and still are a source of pain on some level for me.
Please try to stop this for your own sake much less that of all other members here.

Your advice is not really needed nor wanted. We have moderators for that and I do not believe you are one.
However, it is quite evident that you believe that I am in the wrong and GK is in the right, judging from your post. Your opinion, quite frankly, has been rather apparent for quite some time and I basically ignore it along with most of GK's postings. I do not believe I am in the minority either, judging from other comments to GK's postings (which I have not engaged in).
I have strived to do my utmost to promote real science. Much is open to speculation, but I have at least explained my experimental methods which led me to certain conclusions. Such experimentation is open for any one to follow and experiment with on their own. Not everyone does so, however, and some would rather resort to mystical explanations to discourage honest inquiry.
My efforts have met with name calling, self aggrandizement, and desperate attempts to cover up tracks. That's fine. If you feel that attitude better personifies audio, so be it. You are definitely entitled to your opinion and I will not quibble with what you desire.
But trying to play peacemaker? A better balanced attitude might be a good place to start, but no matter. It really does not bother me.
""However, it is quite evident that you believe that I am in the wrong and GK is in the right, judging from your post.""
You have really bad judgment, but there is no hope anymore as I see it. Best of luck to you, your business and family.

I haven't quite figured out how they let you write rave reviews of products like Black Discus and the same company's power cord over on Tweakers Asylum when you are a dealer for that company. Am I missing something?
Sorry for that attack....
The review, the rave one 0on the mSA power cord, was written by Winston Smith, not me. My replay is fairly buried in the slew of followups and it concerned the fact that the MSA cord was more of a cheap plc than a real power cord.
i did NOT initiate the thread as per AA rules, merely replying to clear up certain misconceptions, which even the original writer had not realized. If you contact Bob Prangnell i have never ordered any of his power line cords, so i would be unqualified to write a review.
The vast majority of my posts on BD were on placement and the awareness that for some peculiar reason they need to "break in". Again I did not initiate the overwhelming majority of these threads. simply replying to a thread started by others. Those are permissible by AA rules.
Reading comprehension is such a valuable asset.
Your response to Winston's review of yet another MSA product. This was before you decided to disclose or were prompted to disclose you were a dealer for MSA. You offered this information as if you were simply an objective observer, which you obviously weren't. I comprehend just fine.
"The PP add what Bob of MSA calls Kegs ( they look like mini kegs). The single + adds one keg per line (three total), and the double adds two per line (6 total).
The kegs, in and of themselves, are phenomenal performers. I add them after the filtering modules on my PLCs and they add a new degree of quieting. The quieting gives greater dynamics and enables you to hear deeper into the soundstage, uncovering details not easily heard before. The amazing thing is that this is not done by jacking up the treble as many other components will, but by simply lowering the threshold of noise.
In this manner, not only is finer detail revealed, but the soundstage width is increased significantly and the focus in the middle is also much tighter and more defined. The caveat is that you need a phase and time aligned transducer to really hear the finer details that the BD reveals, and far too few speaker systems offer a phase aligned system ( just look at Stereophile's impulse test measurements: even the expensive Wilson's fail there).
I find the Kegs also work phenomenally well when installed on the B+ leads of the power transformers. The same benefits are gained as when placement on the incoming AC is done. The effects, though, do not reach a plateau, but seem to be additive (I tried this after installing the Kegs on my PLC). This, of course, is great, but then one starts wondering "how much more can I lower the noise floor?".
In my system, only the Shunyata Hydra proved to have current unlimiting ability to keep amplifier dynamics at their peak. A set of double kegs on a junction box feeding a Leviton 5362 duplex yielded as much of not more performance gains than a Hydra, and it was a hell of lot cheaper.
The kegs do take time to break in: a minimum of several hours in my system. You hear some improvements immediately (bass response) but the fine detail keeps increasing over time. Most of the change ( I have no idea what is changing) occurs within two hours but there is still continuous change over at least four hours, so be aware if you try this mod. I place a CD on repeat and simply walk away for a few hours..."
The PP execution, of course, simply splices in the MSA device in series with your IEC power cord, making comparisons before and after very easy.
1. Per AA rules I can respond to a thread started by another. Winston was being dumped upon because of his glowing review, but the MSA cord was more than a power cord and I wanted to illustrate how good a PLC it could be and in partial justification for his great praise.
2.In no manner did my post attempt to solicit sales for myself. As a matter of fact i received absolutely no sales at all. And as a matter of fact, I have never ordered any MSA power cords, so i couldn't sell it even if I wanted to.
3. I attempted to explain the use of the kegs, the principle part of the MSA power cord. If you check the MSA website you can buy kegs for even cheaper than the power cord, BTW, so I am not doing Bob a favor at all.
4. Please contact your pal, Awe d o File, and get the big picture.
5. Please reread Asylum rules also
"4. Please contact your pal, Awe d o File, and get the big picture."
That statement is so wrong on many levels. It makes me sad to read it . It points to fear, paranoia and lots of other not nice things. Stu, really? Wow.

The AA rule you are referring to (not the one you made up) allows manufacturers and dealers to respond to questions about their products. The problem is you were responding to the OP by Winston out of the blue - as if you were just another satisfied customer of MSA. You had not disclosed that you were a DEALER for MSA. This is called a CONFLICT OF INTEREST. Hel-loo! By pumping up the product in your rave review you were obviously helping (your) sales, at least potentially. It's not whether or not you actually receive sales. Duh! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. It's one thing to help out a "struggling small company" but it's quite another thing to pretend to help them but help yourself instead. Now do you get it?The AA rules you stated are not real AA rules, by the way, you made them up to try to weasel out of your predicament. The real applicable AA rule (not the one you made up) is:
"A member of the trade may not volunteer any information about a specific product that he is selling or making, in response to a general request for information about a type of product or in any other discussion."

"""However, it is quite evident that you believe that I am in the wrong and GK is in the right"""
Oh Stu it was sad to read that. Yes this time as I said you attacked. You failed to see the big picture. I'm sorry.

writing LOL is an attack ? Sheesh. If GK wanted to know more he could have simply asked. Or, as pointed out, simply google BGT. Being a self anointed "rocket scientist" one would like to believe a simple internet search and reading would provide any answers.
Being that information is so readily available one would suspect his motives in attempting to start a thread, where so much has been already written about.
Again, big picture ? You obviously wear your heart on your sleeve. That's fine with me, but if GK needs you to fight his battles, so be it. On that note, I abandon this thread, which, IMHO, has been long answered elsewhere and has not been very productive at all, considering the copious amount of data a simple google search will show.
Check the really big picture
Yikes! I was wasting my time! So you want to personally attack me here? That's fine. I will not lower myself.

Battery ground tweak. You'll get my website. Lifespan of the battery for my BGTs is CLEARLY stated at the end of the article. That article
has been up for about a YEAR, btw, although additions have been made. When I posted about the BGT on Tweaks Asylum, I already was using capacitors and explained the sonic differences between higher voltages and other factors. I kept no secrets except for the bypass caps I use, but that one is also dependent on user tastes. I did give hints as to values, however. I made no false statements, at least not to the best of my ability and knowledge. I shared all the basic groundwork I did on the asylum and much of the experimentation I also did.
If GK did a minimum of research, my website info would have clearly shown up and it is number one in the google search engine. Hell, search Tweaks asylum. He may be banned but he can still read it...
As a dealer and manufacturer, I do NOT use self aggrandizement to push or solicit sales, paying careful attention to AA rules as much as I can. In fact, I have shared far more information about the actual workings than most others. I do not make a penny off the information I share, BTW. A true DIYer can easily replicate my work for the most part.
Part of obeying AA rules us NOT to jump in and seemingly promote a commercial website. But a cursory google search shows a lot on tweaks and audiogon. It irks me that GK's reading comprehension is either non existent, or, maybe, that he is just playing for attention. Again, a simple google search should be one of the first things any one wanting data should make.
Does your post really answer his question: NO !! It simply says how much voltage drop you have observed. Do you realize battery life will vary between alkaline, carbon, lithium, and lead acid types (and whatever other battery types which exist)? You didn't even bother to state what type of battery you are using. Hence your observation is, at best, clouded by uncertainty.
There are differences. I know you like GK personally having met the man. Still, a "rocket scientist"? We are dealing with basic electricity here. There is a slew of data on batteries, and even on the BGT on the internet.
Plus, if you haven't noticed, I basically ignore GK cries for attention for the greater part. This one I had to answer only because it is basically my idea although I am always very careful to give Bud Purvine the credit for the inspiration.
No Bud, no BGT...I am deeply indebted to the man and for what he has written and shared. I've said before and I'll say it again: Thank you, Bud.

Wow you took the time to write all that and with two edits but you couldn't give a simple answer to GK? I guess I will not ever understand. I take no sides. I have positive and negative feelings for you both which isn't any different than anyone we meet in life is it? Who the F is perfect or always in the right? No human, that's for sure.
It is now and has been for a long while OLIVE BRANCH time for you two. Please both of you get over what ever the F it is and was and move forward like adults. We will not rehash the past and count all the right and wrong each person did and pronounce a winner and loser.
Come on, I know you both can do it.
