You've got lots of horsepower there, don't think I need the M4 Pro chip. Does the Dolby Atmos processing require that, or did you also just want to future proof? I'm waffling a bit on more storage, another $180 for 1TB, so no big deal.
I'm trying to get rid of the long USB cable I've got strewn across the floor (which ALWAYS seems to end up under the rocking chair), The mini would be connected to the network via Ethernet Over Powerline, with my Ruby SACD/DAC connected via USB. If screen sharing works once the mini is set up then I could hopefully use the laptop whenever I needed to use a monitor and keyboard. I don't have the room for a permanent monitor/keyboard/trackpad setup at the moment.

Neither - just general principles! ;-)
I guess my only principles are:
I don't want it to blow up
I want the most I can get since I hate "breaking in" a new machine, so every 10 years is good for me.
I hate cable clutter, so minimization of boxes and peripherals is my goal.
And GP #1 No more Windows machines EVER!
