  I discovered that for a cold start with my ultraRendu endpoint feeding an Audio Research DAC via USB, I need to unplug the DAC before hand. Seems to have a standby mode that must be reset.
  
  Drove me crazy until I found simple and consistent solution.

    when it wants it...
    Sometimes my stuff will be fine and the next time
    it it's deader than a doornail, computer can't find it.
    Sometimes's a quick fix, sometimes repeated restarts were necessary.
