Apple has an dedicated team focused on health applications for Watch and iPhone. A friend near Seattle uses Apple Watch to monitor for arrhythmias since having his cardiac ablation surgery earlier this year.

. . . Ms. CfL and I are seriously considering one now - because of all the possible health advantages which you mention and which I've read about. BTW, we both re-watched the Apple announcement (an hour and a half long!) but we had to stop half way through, just as they were focusing on the iPhone itself. We'll probably pick up from where we left off in the next day or two.
