I'm with Johnny on this one. Haven't missed them since I retired my Touch players years ago. Watch/phone/pad works great for me across multiple systems using same UI.Anyone else? Appreciate the two but was hoping to get a range of responses.

My digital players have touch-screen displays, and they function very well. I find myself using the touch-screen much more often than I use the push-buttons.On the other hand, my computer has a touch-screen and I've never used it. I always use the keyboard and mouse instead.
Go figure!

it seems to depend upon one's UI preference, gear locality and system mix. I was curious to get different perspectives.
While my preamp has a touch screen, I use it only for configuration purposes. Display is winked out in use. The remote deals with everything I need for playback and music selection for digital library/Qobuz controlled via pad/phone/watch.
I use the same media server software in the garage, office and bedroom with same experience. Music on HT uses local memory card storage on an Oppo player. :)
The exception is my smart phone of course. But I'm not using the touch screen on my new, lightweight laptop for travel, and I disable the touch screen feature on my Panasonic Lumix camera.
I have no hifi components with touch screens and I won't be lookin for any.

Don't need a touch screen -but- something like this is totally useless.
You can start, stop, go to next or previous but you have no idea WHAT you will play, go back too or next too...the user is totally blind to music selections.
Needless to say, I never ever use my Bluesound node touch panel.
But, I don't use the touch screens. I use my phone or tablet to control the RPis and Touches and which players are active. What I really like is having synced time. Otherwise, every clock in the house has a different time, but then I don't wear a watch.

I'd rather just do the controlling with a single UI wherever I may be at the time. :)
I do the controlling with a single UI wherever I may be at the time. That single UI resides on the streamer touchscreen, iPhone, or iPad. Same UI.

" Watch/phone/pad works great for me across multiple systems using same UI. "Works the same for all of them - either individually or synchronized together. In the office. In the garage. Upstairs. In the bedroom.
When you move onto the Eversolo's replacement, there will be a different one.

I must be missing your point.
"When you move onto the Eversolo's replacement, there will be a different one [UI]."
Unless you're saying it's too difficult to learn something new.
I enjoy the reverse - using one way to play across multiple systems. :)
I use Orange Squeeze to control LMS for the UI which typically is run on an RPi. Four Logitech Touches are just selected as players via my phone or tablet which are the same UI.
However, it is nice to see what's playing on an activated Touch. The only time I touch the Touch is to stop the player if I don't have my phone handy.

I confess that I sold my three Touch players long ago. One was still NIB as a backup which is essentially what my RPi4 serves as. This was from May 2016.
First of all, Darko seems too hung-up on Apple Music and spends way too much time on it as not everyone cares. I don't. There are ways to get bit-perfect Apple Music from these devices but it doesn't apply to me as I don't subscribe.Touchscreen displays "satisfy market demand". Darko said so himself. Yes, people want them and why not? Of course it helps sell units. It covers all use cases.... the desktop user, the couch potato sitting 12-feet away, and anyone seeking some eye candy. Why do people buy McIntosh?
Darko didn't present a compelling reason for -NOT- having a touchscreen ....
Darko mostly nitpicks on how we interact with them and his portrait vs landscape preference. I prefer landscape. As an aside I think the FiiO vertical form factor is too goofy and would never fit quite right in my AV rack. I vote for landscape. Choice is a good thing.
If you're going to take up front panel real estate with a LCD screen anyway, why not make it a touchscreen? It makes perfect sense for a feature rich product (like the Eversolo) with so many configuration and preference permutations. The Menu layering is intuitive and doesn't even require a user manual. The alternative would be a knob or two and having to toggle, press, pull, turn right, turn left, etc. etc to navigate all the possible configurations. Remember the yank, push, pull, twist and turn BMW iDrive infotainment controller? Even BMW has gone touchscreen in their latest vehicles. When adjusting a multitude of configuration settings and preferences a touchscreen is easier to use vs yanking, twisting, turning, and pulling a knob.
And you're not limited to using the touchscreen with the Eversolo. It can be controlled from a smartphone, tablet, or the dedicated handheld plastic remote* AND can it can also display to your massive flat screen TV directly over HDMI ARC or via Screen Mirroring (if your modern TV supports it). Choice is a good thing.
However, for initial setup and a multitude of preferences it's real easy using the touchscreen vs yanking and twisting buttons and knobs. Which reminds me, I'm going to change my DAC setting to one of the slow rolloff choices and I might even play with PEQ and DSP. Try that with a couple buttons. Oh I did, and it was a royal PITA on the RME ADI-2 DAC FS.
Almost forgot. Need new features or user interface improvements? Just update the software. The touchscreen will accommodate it which may not be the case with buttons and knobs.
No one NEEDS a LCD screen (I have several Raspberry Pi streamers w/o one) but I am enjoying the Eversolo DMP-A8 touchscreen and all. Choice is a good thing.
- Stream Qobuz via Roon over Ethernet to Eversolo streamer OR
- Stream via Mac Mini to Eversolo USB DAC section OR
- Stream via Mac Mini to PS Audio DAC to Eversolo analog preamp section
- Control via Eversolo touchscreen, iPhone, iPad, or plastic remote
- Display on Eversolo screen, iPhone, iPad, and 75" TVChoice is a good thing.... unless you're easily confused then maybe not.
*Eversolo remote standard on DMP-A8, optional $12 on Amazon for DMP-A6 series.

I have a WiiM Ultra with a touch screen and a couple of RPi players with the 7" RPi touch screen. 95% of my music searches/selection/play management are done on my phone, tablet or laptop. But, sometimes it's nice to be able to just touch the screen for a pause, track advance, volume change or whatever without having to find your phone, unlock it and find the program, or quit doing what you're in the middle of on your phone/PC. With the low cost of touch screens these days, in my book it's a win-win to have one on your player.
"Watch/phone/pad works great for me" but the touch panels on major components are never conveniently within reach.
OTOH, I recall the detachable front panels that were used in car stereos to deter theft. With today's BT technology, it should be possible to design a component with a detachable front panel that was still functional anywhere in the room.
