I took a leap. Replaced my RPi running PcP, Schiit Bifrost DAC and Audio Research LS3 preamp with an Eversolo A8. So far so good.

Follow Ups:
I noticed this unit has op amps, do you know if they can be swapped for other op amp offerings like Burson?
No. The circuit boards use mostly SMT .
One of the reasons (of many) that I chose the Eversolo DMP-A8 over some others is the separate all analog preamp section with relay switched resistors in the volume attenuator..... not relying on volume control in the digital domain as is the case with most DACs with variable output. My DMP-A8 replaced the Schiit Kara preamp, SMSL D400EX (AKM) DAC, and RPi streamer. I still have them and they sound great but the DMP-A8 (AKM) DAC is slightly more 'refined' with a smooth sound but not at the expense of detail. The one thing I notice most is the improved instrument separation and soundstage. On the other hand, the Schiit Kara setup was a little more robust in the mids.
Eversolo DMP-A8. Mac Mini M1. 8 year old PS Audio NuWave DSD DAC.I'm streaming directly into the DMP-A8 streamer/DAC section via Roon but I can also use the Mac Mini + PS Audio DAC into the A8 balanced XLR preamp section. Roon Software is my platform center piece for music library management, navigation, and playback.

My experience is in line with yours. I did notch up my sub as I tweaked the set up with the A8.
Can you "cast" the A8 screen to your TV?
Gsquared
I can cast the Eversolo screen to my iPhone and iPad which allows them to be used as a Remote Control just like touching the Eversolo touchscreen LCD. I don't know if Eversolo will cast to the TV. It has a HDMI ARC port so I -think- the physical connection will display the Eversolo to the TV but not sure that it can be done via wireless 'casting'.That being said, I can have Roon up on the TV screen via the Mac Mini over HDMI -WHILE- Roon also displays on the Eversolo screen. It offers less Roon functionality (vs the Mac) but still allows for album art, album changes, playlists, and track changes.
I haven't read anywhere about Eversolo casting to a TV. Here's a thought. As you know the Eversolo will cast to your iPhone via the Eversolo App but I wonder if the iPhone can then mirror via AirPlay to an AirPlay capable TV. Seems a bit convoluted but I might give it a try sometime.

I tried, but my Samsung remote is dead. I will get a universal from Microcenter and see if I can make that work.

I didn't play with it very much but I got it working. I am able to cast the Eversolo screen to/from my iPhone giving me control of the Eversolo from the iPhone. I am also able to simultaneously screen mirror the iPhone to the Samsung TV so the Eversolo App on the iPhone appears on the big screen. Here's what I did....
First initiate screen mirroring on the iPhone. It will find compatible devices. Select Samsung TV.
...
The iPhone screen will display vertically on your TV but once you start mirroring from the Eversolo App it will go horizontal.Launch the Eversolo App on the iPhone and choose Cast. The Eversolo App on your iPhone will be mirrored to the TV.
My Samsung TV has a number of PiP modes so I had to mess with it in order to get just the Eversolo App up on the TV.Screen Mirroring to the TV while the Eversolo App is Casting.
Whatever you display in the Eversolo App on the iPhone is screen mirrored to the TV. No cables! It's magic.

Thanks
That is perfect.

Crap my Samsung doesn't have Airplay.

If you have an AppleTV box attached to your TV I believe you can screen mirror to it.
I am casting from an IPad. I think I need a dongle.

I tried casting with Eversolo from my iPhone 14 Pro which worked perfectly for me. Casting from my iPad worked but it was very sluggish. I'm not sure if the poor response was due to the age of my much older iPad or if it had something to do with the larger higher resolution screen real estate that the casting would have to fill.None of the above involved screen mirroring to the TV, just casting Eversolo on my iPhone and iPad.

I have a newer, but bottom of the line IPad. Casting to it from the A8 looks perfect.

Interesting. Casting the Eversolo App to my older iPad is like molasses. I'll have to try it on my wife's newer iPad. Thanks.
I will try it tomorrow with my Samsung phone ,
The Eversolo DMP-A8 streamer can be controlled by a smartphone (iPhone or Android). This allows the phone to act as a full-featured remote control with everything on the Eversolo screen appearing on the phone screen. G Squared can do this.I believe he is talking about his Samsung TV not supporting AirPlay which is required for "Screen Mirroring" from the iPhone or iPad. My newer Samsung TV supports AirPlay so I am able to "Screen Mirror" to it from my iPhone.
The end result of this "Casting" and "Screen Mirroring" is the ability to control the Eversolo from the iPhone WHILE simultaneously "Screen Mirroring" the iPhone to the big TV. It works if the TV supports AirPlay which mine does.

Apparently my TV was made before Airplay was standard for Samsung TVs.
There are some IOS apps that claim to work, but they all cost $ and have bad reviews. I am inclined to get a HDMI dongle that is an Airplay 2 receiver.
I use the spinning LP shaped "album" cover with a spectrum backdrop on my A8 display and think it would be cool on the big screen.

Some streaming devices like Roku and AppleTV support Airplay mirroring but that would mean having another item in your AV rack. A HDMI dongle with Airplay sounds like a great idea if one of the goals is to keep it out of sight possibly mounting it (or letting it hang) behind the TV. Good idea. I didn't even know that such a HDMI dongle exists. I now see several of them on Amazon. Good luck!
to one of my Tangerine Dreams faves: Canyon Carver .
Enjoy your new combo!
recommended tangerine dream albums?
.
must..NOT..resist..."upgraditis"
I would recommend anything from the classic lineup of the mid-70s: Phaedra, Rubycon, Stratosfear, or the live Ricochet.
That music was revelatory when I first heard it fifty years ago and has held up well over time.
Not sure things ever got any better.
. . . in theory, practice and theory are the same; in practice, they are different . . .
they have so many albums and I'm not familiar with most. Qobuz has more than sixty choices!
Wish I could give you other recs than Canyon Dreams from '87.
I recommend Exit along with live albums Encore and Poland.

I saw them live in Chicago in the 80s. A great show.

on Qobuz. Thx!
