Is my Squeezebox Touch becoming obsolete?
I got notice that MySqueezebox.com is shutting down...
I've already found Tidal and Qobuz problems.
The Touch is my most used audio component, what is there out there that doesn't cost an arm and a leg that can do what the touch does?
I've tried the WiiM Pro and it would be a contender IF it had a PC program and not just smartphone/tablet apps...I can use them, but most of the time I sit on my couch with a 55" screen hooked up to a mini-HTPC and wireless keyboard/touchpad and don't want to screw with the iPad or my phone...
I've also been screwing with computers for over 50 years and don't want something that I have to do a bunch of work and deep thought to get functional...
I may just have to save up the nickles and dimes that's left over each month from my meager Social Security benefits and buy something this summer to celebrate my seventy-two trips around the sun...
Follow Ups:
I have multiple Squeezebox Duets and run Squeezer and Orange Squeeze apps with a skin (can't remember the name) that automatically uploads cover art for new albums.I haven't visited my mysqueezebox in years, no need to with the Duet but maybe it's needed with the Touch?
Logitech abandoned the Squeezebox years ago but I have no problems whatsoever with mine, they work and sound fine.

Strange -- my Qobuz is working fine with all my players hooked up through my Raspberry Pi running LMS. When I read that mysqueezebox.com was shutting down, I went ahead and logged out of it on LMS. Qobuz continues to play just fine -- spent the afternoon listening to it while working.
That have been some recent updates to the Qobuz plugin -- have you kept your LMS up to date?
Tidal and Deezer are a different story -- they have to connect through mysqueezebox.com so will quit working when the service is shut down.
I've tried the WiiM Pro and it would be a contender IF it had a PC program and not just smartphone/tablet apps.
You can always control Squeezelite players (like the Wiim Pro) via a browser - which can certainly be on any form of PC.
And dress it up a bit using the Material Skin plugin.
I'm torn between doing something like that, or just getting another of these Win 11 minicomputers (like I'm on now) for under $200 and dedicating one to just streaming stations and services...I could do that with this one but sometimes too many things going at the same time on the same computer causes dropouts, buffering, etc...
I've noticed occasionally that the audio from the Touch being fed files via Ethernet from the computer sometimes sounds better than the same file via USB to the same DAC...I use JRiver 32 on the computer for USB output, and SBMS web control for the Touch...all my devices are wired Ethernet for best network performance.
I would have to say, though, my biggest use for the Touch, and the Radio in the bedroom, is to stream on-line "radio" stations...everything from high-res for the Touch in the den, to Old Time radio stations for my insomnia via the Radio next to the bed with earbuds...
I don't know what I'll do if on those sleepless nights I can't drift off to Dragnet, or Yours Truly Johnny Dollar, or Broadway is My Beat, only having to listen to the noise of my CPAP machine and my breathing...
Ahh well, nothing stays the same, now does it!
.
I'm not sure that anything would change. As I recall, the only thing mysqueezebox does is to register a device. I've got 4 or 5 Touches and they just work using LMS from a server. If it isn't broke, don't fix it.
OTOH, doing Tidal or Qobuz could be issues over time. For streaming your media library, there shouldn't be any issues for a long, long time.
Someday, it might not work well, but at least, you'll have a nice clock.

If it ain't broke, yep. I made the mistake of "upgrading" both LMS and the Qobuz plug in. Took several days and another "upgrade" to get my SBT back to normal.
I read a post on the LMS help forum that they aren't able to get updated code from Qobuz any longer, now that they are successful. Michael says he is working around it, but for how long who knows.
I've never used Tidal, but Qobuz works just fine now. Never used mysqueezebox either, as far as I can remember.
And I LOVE MY CLOCK!
