Hello,
Thanks for the photos. What tubes are you running in them ? Thanks again.
Per side - pair of 12AT7 (mixed), pair of 6SN7WGTA (Philips) and a mxiture of 6AS7Gs (US and Russian) and 6080s.
I just recently got these, and it came with all 6AS7G power tubes (mainly Russian). Some were weak, and when I first hooked them up I blew a bunch of the power tubes. According to Ralph, this is apparently not uncommon, even with new tubes (6AS7Gs must not travel well).
All I had on hand were 6080s, so I put some of those in (and blew a bunch as well). I learned a bit through these exercises, and now have them up and running very nicely with the combo.
By the way, I do believe that these can successfully be run with 6080s if you have the right ones. First, DO NOT USE GE (or GE style). There is actually a variation of the 6080 with the heatsinks at the top of the tube (I have found newer RCAs and Raytheons with this feature), and these seem to be more durable. They are also cheaper than 6AS7Gs.
In any event, I have a bunch of 6AS7Gs on the way. One day I will switch them all out again.
