I am getting a new set of 97 dB efficient 16 ohm PHY-HP based speakers and am considering tube amplification. Bruce at Transcendent suggested the T16 stereo amp with the low noise upgrade.
I am impressd with the low waste heat from this amp. The Atma-Sphere ST 30 consumes about 700 watts to make 60. This is a serious amount of waste heat to deal with. The T16 consumes about 180 watts to make 50, a LARGE difference.
I would like to get some opinions about this amp from someone who has one or has used one. I have not made any final decisions as of yet.
Follow Ups:
I believe the T16 stereo puts out about 30W/channel.
I've used mine with Avantgarde Duo 3.2 horns and Galante Rhapsody single driver speakers. I've compared it to many other more expensive amps and prefer the T16 in almost every case. The T16 is a really incredible amp for the money and very reliable.
The speakers are an exceptionally friendly load for any OTL. What you will find is that it is about sound, not power. The speakers are quite revealing! BTW the S-30 power draw is more like 400 watts, see

I have T16 monos; they've been in about six years, no problems (I built them from the kits). I doubt if I'll ever get another amp.
