Well she makes a choice I think to sing in this whispering quality.I think other songs can show off her vocals a little better. She does stay in pitch - I don't think she has much power but then this is an amplified music world and so most singers don't seem to need it. Adele is sort of an example who is sort of the Kenny G of female singers - play his 5 notes perfectly and stay within what you can handle. And it can sell millions.
I also think she is more of a visual artist with vocal support - The Bond franchise clearly chose her to get more butts in the 007 seats riding her popularity and bring some youths to the movie.
I think this will show Billie's vocals at her best with her song co-writing brother. I think she shows good control here and show off considerably more air and power than some of the other things she's done. Apparently sick as a dog at the Oscars and still did it ok.
I remember a lot of people hated Lady Gaga until she went on Howard Stern and sang Edge of Glory and then people said - "oh she actually can sing"

Talking of Kenny G, I once had a dentist who played smooth jazz in his surgery. I thought of all the possibilities of music you could play but then realized it was a master stroke because no pain he inflicted would be worse.

while I could care less about her music, there is ABSOLUTELY no denying that the girl CAN sing! Billie Eilish, not so much....
That's fair - I noted in another thread that people of a certain generation are used to "standard" singers or as I call them the power ballad belters.
So a Shirley Bassey, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston are quite a different kind of vocalist as apposed to say a SIA, Ellie Goulding and Billie Eilish.
So I enjoy seeing what professional vocal coaches think about the non "standard singers" to see why some of them like singers like Billie Eilish and what strengths these singers possess.
I have listened to Billie a few times now and I get that she is a very good singer in fact - she is NOT however the kind of singer that fans of ballad belters will like.
This vocal coach explains her vocals - there are about a dozen other professional singers who have similar evaluations.
I feel Billie (we are all on first name basis now) sings like all those soft Jazz singers whose music is played by speaker reviewers on YouTube. To me Whitney Houston is the greatest female singer who should have sung a few Bond songs also. Pity.

I feel that singers like Whitney Houston and Celine Dion are more than a bit underrated by audiophiles like they're too embarrassed to play them at a show so instead we get Diana Krall and various classic Jazz singers so others won't make fun of you - it's "safe" to always play Ella Fitzgerald.I like all kinds of singers in all kinds of genres but not everyone is like me - so that's fine.
And who know maybe the next Bond film will hire the next closest thing to Whitney Houston working today.

She would sing the best Bond song if given the opportunity
I really like her

It's killer sad that Whitney's idiot boyfriend got her hooked on hard drugs. It amazes me that people who seemingly have it all get into drugs. I mean you have more money than you could count and can travel anywhere, buy anything. You think they could find a way to be happy with that.
Yoko Ono is a great singer too... Either way... Eilish is as I said before, in the vain of Bjork another yesterday's "freak show".... NOT my cup of tea! And yes I DO like Celine and Whitney... Bassey not so much.. I suppose next you'll try to convince me that Bob Dylan is a great singer... LOL!
